The Dejur Twin Lens Reflex cameras were made in the USA in the early 1950s
by AMSCO Corp. The camera featured such upscale features as a direct
vision sports finder, flash mounting, film type reminder dial, and
brighter screen design thanks to its fresnel screen.
The Dejur name is attached to a number of cameras, including 35mm and
8/16mm movie cameras, as well as light meters and various
accessories. Clean examples of the above TLR have sold on EBAY for circa $25 US. Our main interest in
listing this camera here is to highlight the potential to get a decent TLR
for modest cost, provided you avoid the collectible TLRs with better known
names. Enjoy!
[Ed. note: Thanks to [email protected] for sharing this tip!] Date: Sat, 29 Jun 2002 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: DeJur Reflex I bought a DeJur, brand new, in 1954, which I still own. There is one flaw that I would warn others about. My camera has spent many years, unused, in the provided black leather case. Evidently, acid from the leather, or whatever, has caused a corrosion, or oxidation, on the uncoated, matte, metal exposed trim on the camera. It would probably be advisable to remove the case, for storage. This could also be true of other cameras. Otherwise my camera is still in perfect condition. [email protected]End of Page
