The Conley Junior folder dates from the first World War period (circa 1917-early
1920s). Conley Camera Co. of Rochester (Minnesota, not NY) also made cameras for
Sears under Sears brand names, among other manufacturers to do so.
As you might expect, the #116 film it used has long been an obsolete film type. You may be able to use adapters
with 120 rollfilm in the camera. These cameras are old, but were mass produced,
so they aren't collectible and hence not very valuable (perhaps $20-30+).
Whenever you are dealing with an older folder, you have to worry about
bellows light leaks and film availability.
See our folder FAQ pages for more information on these
older cameras.
Why would anyone buy such an old camera, except for display and collecting? I
have used a similar Kodak camera as a very low cost but fun panoramic 6x12cm
camera using 120 rollfilm in an adapter. So you might also consider a similar
panoramic postcard folder camera project if you
are given such a nifty camera to experiment with. Nifty! Fun! Enjoy!
