Twin Lens Reflex FAQ

This Argoflex twin lens reflex camera is a good example of the popular TLRs from the 1950s and 1960s which can still be found inexpensively, and put to use making medium format photos. These 6x6cn twin lens reflex cameras feature low cost plastic cases and lenses which were mass produced. Shutter speeds usually ranged from 1/200th second to 1 second and bulb. The "75" in the model names seems to refer to the 75mm lenses used.

The Argoflex series of twin reflex cameras includes the following series of 6x6cm twin reflex cameras using 620 rollfilm:

Don't throw that 620 film spool away - you are going to need it! See our Index Page for links to tricks on respooling 120 film onto 620 spools.

These mass-produced plastic cameras with low cost optics don't fetch high prices today. You can often buy a nice clean example for under $25 US. For that price, you can see if you like the twin lens reflex feel and approach to medium format.

Hi--

I acquired an Argoflex 75 yesterday at a antique/junk faire for about $5. I read the info about rolling 120 film onto 620 spools, but was wondering about film speeds. I noticed that Kodak sells the spools of 120 in speeds of 25, 100, 125, 400 etc, but am not sure what should be used. If you could offer any suggestions, that would be great.

Thanks--

-Tina
