I have not seen a history of Voigtlander. Would be nice if there is one.
I have always found their products interesting.
BTW, they were at photokina last month with a big display. Unfortunately,
these days they are just a marketing company and don't make any of the
stuff they sell. I picked up a couple of rolls of Voigtlander film for my
collection.

In the late days, 1970 or so, Voigtlnder was belonging to Carl Zeiss. In
the beginnning of the 1970 Zeiss closed the Voigtlnder factory in
Braunschweig, Germany. Rollei was overtaking personnell and part of the
production line. Rollei than produced Voigtlnder cameras in Singarpoure.
They were marketed under Rollei and Voigtlnder brand name. First
Vorgtlnder camera made by Rollei was the SL 35 M and SL 35 ME to replace
the Rollei developed SL 35. These cameras were ready for the trash. So
after a couple of years they derived from them the SL 35 E and Voigtlnder
VSL 3E which are still good cameras (- if you don't look too much to the
production tolerances).
Also the Rollei XF 35 could originally be a Vortglnder, but I don't know
this.
After the bankrupt in the 1980, the brand name was bought by a marketing
company.
Greetings,
Dirk-Roger Schmitt, from Braunschweig, the home town of Rollei and
Voigtlnder
