Folder Cameras FAQ Pages

Ansco made a series of folder cameras including the No. 1 Folding Ansco and No. 1 Special Folding Ansco during the 1924-28 period. The 6x9cm format, folding camera bed, Anastigmat f/7.5 lens, and Ilex general shutter (from 1/5th second to 1/100th second) make it a typical lower end folder camera (e.g., generally worth circa $25 US if in good condition, less if not).

There is also a No. 1A variant which uses 116 film, which is no longer readily obtainable. See Obsolete Films page for tricks on using 120 film in 116 cameras with adapters.

Similarly, if you get the No. 3 or No. 4 folding Ansco folder, you will need to find 118 film or cut and roll your own. Since a single roll of custom cut film can cost more than these cameras, I advise users to steer towards a folder which uses conventional 120 rollfilm.
