Folder Camera FAQ
The Adox Golf camera shown here was produced during the 1950s. The camera
usually featured either the Adoxar f/6.3 or Cassar f/6.3 lens in either
the Vario or Pronto shutter. These cameras produced 6x6cm images (on 120
film?). Both a deluxe version with a rangefinder and a stripped down (no
rangefinder) model were available.
The Adox Golf series included a Golf 1A Rapid (mid-1960s) 35mm series
(including the Golf IIA and IIIA 35mm models).
Adox Kamerawerk was sited in Weisbaden, Germany. The original Adox cameras
were 35mm film models made by Wirgin from the mid-1930s into the 1950s,
and were followed by other models (e.g., Polomat) into the 1960s.
These Adox Golf folder cameras are not considered collectible cameras,
and bring under $25 (stripped) to under $75 US for the rangefinder
variant.
The key reason to list them here is as an example of a low cost 6x6cm
folder camera that can often be purchased at low cost on EBAY or at camera shows and online. They
are proof that you don't have to spend a lot of money to buy a medium
format camera.
The listing of folder cameras at the Cameras List
Page is quite extensive, and growing!
[from an EBAY listing] Cassar f3.5 (instead of usual f6.3) lens is clear. Shutter is Prontor-S, slow below 1/25. Bellows are intact. Finder is clear. Two small paint rubs on body. With IB and original box.

On your Adox Golf page at http://medfmt.8k.com/mf/adoxgolf.html I read that "These cameras produced 6x6cm images (on 120 film?)". I can confirm that it really is 120 film. I actually use this camera sometimes, when I find my 135-system boring :-) Regards, Espen S. Seland Oslo, Norway
